Nestled in the heart of Porto, A Padoca do Rosario Vegan is a delightful surprise for anyone, regardless of their dietary preferences. Initially, I wasn’t expecting much from a vegan bakery, but this place completely exceeded my expectations. We stumbled upon it while searching for a satisfying lunch, and we were absolutely delighted.
Let’s talk about the Pastel de Nata – a seemingly impossible feat for a vegan bakery. Trust me, they’ve nailed it. The shell is wonderfully crisp, the custard has a beautiful, smooth texture, and the sweetness is perfectly balanced. It truly rivals any traditional Pastel de Nata you’ve ever tasted. We also sampled a vegan croissant, and honestly, you wouldn’t have guessed it was butter-free! The Bolognese pizza was equally delicious, showcasing the creativity and skill of the bakers.
The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service was exceptionally friendly, particularly helpful when we had a larger group. Booking ahead is advisable – we initially attempted a reservation through TheFork but didn’t receive confirmation, so we arrived a day early for lunch and were still accommodated. It’s worth noting that they primarily offer breakfast and lunch, and aren’t open in the afternoon. As they’re currently undergoing some external construction, it’s worth checking for any potential disruptions, though we were even gifted a few Pastel de Nata to try as a token of their appreciation!
