Underwater Waterfall Mauritius with LagoonFLIGHT
Discover a truly remarkable and almost unbelievable sight – the underwater waterfall at Le Morne, Mauritius. This isn’t your typical waterfall; it’s a mesmerizing natural phenomenon created by the unique geological landscape of the island. Formed millions of years ago from an ancient volcanic plateau, Mauritius boasts a dramatic continental shelf, leading to a striking contrast between the bright, turquoise waters of the lagoon and the deep blue abyss of the Indian Ocean.
The waterfall itself is a result of sand and silt being drawn down into the deep ocean by the powerful currents created by the significant drop – exceeding 2600 feet. It’s a breathtaking spectacle, vividly showcased in documentaries like “My Unreal Planet.” Sailors navigated these waters centuries ago, recognizing this location as a crucial point on their journey across the Indian Ocean. The visual impact is immediate: the sudden transition from crystal-clear shallows to the dark depths is unforgettable.
Visitors consistently praise this location, describing it as one of the most extraordinary marine landscapes on Earth. Recent reviews on Google Maps highlight the beauty and wonder of experiencing this phenomenon firsthand. While drone footage offers a unique perspective, be mindful of restricted airspace during peak tourist activity. Getting to Le Morne is easiest via a autocarro or a short boat trip from the coast. It’s a relatively accessible destination, offering a truly special and memorable experience for anyone seeking natural beauty and geological intrigue.

Very nice place when I am got adult I go again
Le Morne Underwater Waterfall is one of the most spectacular natural sights in Mauritius and absolutely worth visiting. I experienced it in February, a period with strong wind and frequent rain, which adds challenge but also dramatic atmosphere to the location. Drone flying is possible even in strong wind conditions when using a drone capable of handling higher wind resistance and an appropriate flight mode. Extra caution is essential — the area is active with seaplanes and helicopter traffic, so strict compliance with local aviation regulations and safety procedures is mandatory. Despite the weather challenges, the view is breathtaking. The optical illusion of the underwater waterfall combined with the Le Morne peninsula landscape creates a unique perspective that stands out as a must-visit highlight of the island.
OMG is so beautiful view 😍
