Uíma River Walkways or Fiães Walkways (Santa Maria da Feira)
Just 30 minutes from Porto, one of Portugal's most beautiful boardwalks awaits. The Uíma River Walkways, set within the Uíma Riverbanks Park in the parishes of Fiães and Lobão, wind along approximately 4 kilometres of the peaceful banks of the River Uíma, a tributary of the Douro.
Along the way, visitors are immersed in a lush, verdant woodland where small waterfalls, streams, a weir and even a birdwatching tower reveal the richness of the local ecosystem. The surroundings harbour diverse wildlife, including otters and the nightingale, alongside abundant native flora. Informative panels placed along the route help interpret this unique natural heritage.
The trail is almost entirely flat, making it ideal for families, young children and people with reduced mobility. The park also features fitness equipment, picnic areas and two car parks, one at each end of the walkway. Bring comfortable footwear, water and a snack for a picnic — and take your time.
