Situated in the volcanic runoff zone of the mountain that formed the Santa Barbara mountain range, it fits in the oligomesotrophic water habitat of the Mediterranean-Alpine region with aquatic vegetation, with reference to the species "Littorela uniflora" and "Isoëtes azorica". It is situated in a small lagoon, whose name is lost in the night of time, somewhere in the beginning of the island's settlement.
