Located very close to the new Canal Bridge, connecting Abragão, in Penafiel, to Vila Boa do Bispo, in Marco de Canaveses, the swing is in front of the place where the old Canal Bridge is submerged. The old bridge, a work planned by Edgar Cardoso and inaugurated in 1949, was submerged when the Torrão Dam was built in 1989. The bridge is still under water, even in front of the swing, hence the choice of the name.
