The Knight's Swing is one of the most recently emerged swings, and it is special because it reminds us of the traditional rocking horses, from which children and us when we were them, take off on adventures without ever leaving the same place. Inspired by the legend of a knight, this wooden rocking horse is the perfect spot to admire the landscape and the sunset in the village of Lamelas, in Castro Daire. The legend comes from the place where it was found, Penedo do Cavaleiro, in Pombeira, in the parish of Lamelas, Castro Daire County, and tells the story of a Portuguese knight who fell in love with a beautiful Moorish woman, with whom he escaped, ending up being pursued by a legion of Moors. To defend himself, among valleys and mountains, he looked for a steep place with a strategic view, where he collected stones and threw them at the Moors. Tired, he ended up falling asleep in the arms of his beloved. The Moors passed without seeing them and the stones have remained there to this day. In this small place, Pombeira, you can also know ancient mills and a waterfall. If you go by car, you will only have to climb 100 meters on foot, and you can still take the opportunity to do the Trilho da Pombeira, which has a length of 10.3 km, where the swing is also located. This swing was built by the Grupo Amigos da Pombeira, in collaboration with the Associação Cultural Desportiva e Recreativa de Lamelas (ACDR Lamelas).
