It is a simple truss chapel, with a small porch and a viewpoint, from which one can see fields of cultivation, the city of Leiria and, on clear sky days, the sea.

It is said that at the end of the 14th century, Diogo Gil, a navigator devoted to Our Lady, facing a huge storm fearing for his life promised to build a chapel on the mountain he saw from the sea, if the storm subsided.
