Located at the top of Monte de Santo Estêvão, in Lamego, the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora dos Remédios is one of the Douro's landmarks and one of the most impressive Baroque temples in Portugal. The climb is made via an imposing monumental staircase, decorated with fountains, statues and tile panels that make each landing a mandatory stop to enjoy the view. At the end of the climb, the sanctuary welcomes visitors with its elegant façade and richly ornamented interior, typical of the Baroque and Rococo styles. In addition to its religious significance, it is a place of unique beauty, surrounded by gardens and viewpoints offering unforgettable panoramic views over Lamego.
