Nestled within the dramatic landscape of the Geirangerfjord in Norway, the Seven Sisters Waterfall offers a truly unforgettable experience. This remarkable site isn’t one single cascade, but rather seven distinct streams of meltwater, each plunging nearly 270 metres into the fjord. These streams flow independently, maintaining their own unique rhythm and character, creating a captivating visual pattern of interwoven silver threads against the dark granite cliffs.
Legend whispers of seven sisters who once danced on the mountainside, enchanting a suitor so profoundly that he was forever transformed into a bottle-shaped waterfall, eternally watching them from across the fjord. The power of these falls fluctuates with the seasons – in spring, they unleash a roaring symphony fueled by melting snow, often painting the air with vibrant rainbows; by late summer, they soften into a gentle whisper, a poignant reminder of the Arctic cycle’s delicate balance. It’s a place where you can truly feel connected to the ancient landscape and the myths that have shaped it.
Reaching the falls requires a bit of adventure, with options including boat trips, invigorating hikes, or even kayaking. Visitors consistently praise the breathtaking views and the unique atmosphere. Be prepared for a range of weather conditions – warm layers are recommended, especially during the cooler months. Experiencing the Seven Sisters Waterfall is more than just witnessing a beautiful natural wonder; it’s about immersing yourself in the raw beauty and captivating folklore of Norway.

We were here during winter so it was frozen but still a cool waterfall
The waterfalls were gorgeous (as all waterfalls are). They are a little tricky to find as you have to either ride a boat, or hike, or we also saw a few people kayaking. We didn't have time to take the hike or kayak so we opted to view the falls as we were on the ferry to our next location. If you are going to travel by ferry in Geirangerfjord, I would recommend taking this approach to seeing the falls.
The Seven Sisters in Norway is an absolutely stunning place — a true paradise for anyone wh The towering waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, and peaceful fjord scenery create a breathtaking expe start to finish. It's one of those rare destinations where you can simply stand still and feel surn beauty. A must-visit for nature lovers and adventurers alike.
