Located in the National Forest, north of Valado dos Frades, the Valado or Saloio Lagoon is itself a source of freshwater of great ecological and landscape value. A refuge par excellence for birds, reptiles and amphibians, where it is not safe to practice aquatic activities, this is an area of excellence for terrestrial activities or simple walks. In the avifauna, it is possible to observe several species in this place, such as the Common Chaffinch, the European Goldfinch, the Yellowhammer and Reed Bunting. With regard to the fauna, Carps, various species of amphibians, namely Common Toad and Iberian frog, can be observed. In terms of flora, the two predominant species are Scots Pine and Scirpoides holoschoenus, present all around the edge of the lagoon, and it is also possible to observe Stauracanthus genistoides, Juncus and Austrália, which is an exotic plant.
