São Pedro Velho, one of the Geossites of the Arouca Geopark, is a viewpoint with a 360º panoramic view of the Serra da Freita. It is a granite geomorphology, consisting of a series of domes in rocky terraces. The landscape that can be seen from here is superb, unique and awe-inspiring! It could almost be said that from here half of Portugal can be seen. The view is truly unmissable! You can observe the marvelous Arouca valley, the heights of Gamarão, the Paiva valley, the Montemuro mountain range, the Douro valley, the Valongo and other mountain ranges from Minho to Gerês. To reach this viewpoint you will have to take a moderate difficulty hike. Next to the viewpoint, you will find a wooden stairway that facilitates access.
