In the center of the city of Braga, the Church of São Jerónimo de Real has a privileged location, offering magnificent views of the city. This baroque and rococo style church was built with Franciscan architecture and belonged to a Franciscan Order convent. Its interior is covered with cradle vaults with slate flooring and wooden taburns in the nave. Furthermore, it also features rococo and neo-classical baroque side altarpieces, as well as an admirable neo-classical baroque main altarpiece. Adjacent to the church is the Chapel of São Frutuoso, which was incorporated into the church during its reconstruction in the 18th century. This important heritage, fully accessible by car, has art manifestations of extreme quality, such as the carving of the altarpieces and the 16th century cadeiral of the high choir, one of the few of this period that still exist in Portugal. Finally, the Church of São Jerónimo de Real is part of the Way of St. James, making it an enjoyable destination that can not be missed.
