The Valongo contemplation circuit covers a 30km extension with elevations between 350-400 meters above sea level. From the highest points, you can spot Porto, Vila Nova de Gaia, Maia and Matosinhos from the coastline, and valleys and mountains inland – on days with good visibility, you can even see the Marão Mountain. Along the way, there are points of interest such as viewpoints, geodesic markers, rivers, streams, Roman bridges, mills, chapels, villages, leisure areas or Valongo’s Sanctuary. But there are also special rest and stop points for photography: The Monte Alto Balcony (Sanctuary), the Sta. Justa Balcony (shooting ground), the Quintarei Balcony (geodesic marker), the Trono Vale da Tranquilidade (Valley of Tranquility), the Trono de Pias (Pias Heights) and the Trono do Miradouro (Sta. Justa viewpoint) – the latter is equipped with ramps, being accessible to wheelchair users.
