Roman Throne of Pias (Valongo)
The Valongo Contemplation Circuit is 30 kilometers long, with elevations between 350-400 meters above sea level. From the highest points, you can see the Port, Vila Nova de Gaia, Maia and Matosinhos, on the coastal strip, and valleys and mountains in the interior - on days of good visibility, you can even glimpse the Serra do Marão.
Along the way there are points of interest such as viewpoints, geodesic marks, rivers, streams, Roman bridges, mills, chapels, villages, recreation areas or the Valongo Sanatorium.
But there are also special rest and pause points for photography: the Baloiço do Monte Alto (Sanatorium), the Baloiço Sta. Justa (Shooting Range), the Baling of Quintarei (Geodesic Mark), the Throne Vale of Tranquility (Vale of Tranquility), the Throne of Pias (High of Pias) and the Throne of Mirador (Mirador of Sta. Justa) - the latter is equipped with ramps, being accessible to people in wheelchairs.
