This body of water, like its congener Lagoa do Pico da Esperança, is a small lagoon strongly affected by the difference in rainfall between Summer and Winter. Located at around 780 meters of altitude, its biodiversity, due to the variety of Macaronesian species found in its shores and surroundings is of great importance.
