An unforgettable destination for church enthusiasts. The Church of Nossa Senhora da Pena located in Lisbon, is a wonderful jewel of Portuguese Baroque. In the city center, hidden and discreet, I was unable to resist being enchanted by its beautiful drama of light and Baroque details. With time standing still, it is possible to admire its magnificent altars and 18th-century statues, the silver canvases and chandeliers, candelabra and period organ. It is also possible to visit the oldest elevator in Lisbon and a beautiful garden with city views. Fortunately, there are no large crowds there, making the experience more private and quiet. A rare and charming escape to history, perfectly accessible by car. There is no more genuine source to get to know the Portuguese Baroque than the Church of Nossa Senhora da Pena. I strongly recommend it!
