"The Castle of Monção, or Fortress of Monção, in Minho, is located in the parish of Monção e Troviscoso, village and municipality of Monção, district of Viana do Castelo, in Portugal. Erected on the left bank, downstream of Melgaço, it had as its primary function to defend this stretch of the Minho River."
