Miradouro do Detrelo da Malhada (Arouca), Portugal
The Panoramic Viewpoint of Detrelo da Malhada is a geosite of the Arouca Geopark. It is a viewpoint, with unforgettable views, from the mountains to the sea. It is located at 1099 meters above sea level, in the parish of Moldes, in the heart of the Serra da Freita. It offers visitors fantastic and contrasting landscapes, allowing them to reach the Arouca Valley, the elevations of Gamarão, the Paiva Valley, the Montemuro Mountain Range, the Douro Valley and the hills from Valongo to Gerês. To the West, it is possible to reach the Atlantic Ocean and the coastal area between Espinho and Porto and, to the East, the view extends from Côto do Boi to the Arada, São Macário and Marão ranges. Although this viewpoint has a wide visual range, it does not offer a 360-degree view, only around 180 degrees. Nevertheless, this suspended platform was designed and built to take visitors on a journey through valleys, mountain ranges, rivers and the sea.
