Visit the Church of Mercy, in the center of Leiria, for an unforgettable historical and religious experience. This church, located at R. Miguel Bombarda 15, is the result of the complete reconstruction of an original church dating back to 1544. The decoration is simple and austere, creating an ideal atmosphere for intercultural and inter-religious dialogues. The Church of Mercy is a witness to the cultural diversity of the region: before the Christian temple, a synagogue was also hosted there, reflecting the strong Jewish influence of the time, as well as the subsequent strong Arab presence. Its interior is plain and austere, but it boasts a unique view of the city. It is, therefore, a space for dialogue among the Book religions: Islamic, Jewish and Christian faith. It is undoubtedly an experience that every city in the world should have! Make your plans now and come spend an afternoon in the mystery and history of this place of great beauty.
