trail is over 6km long and there another path right at the end of it which goes on for a few more kilometres effectively leaving the main Lisbon area, definitely worth the hike, took around 2 hours and a half hours to walk but it’s also well suited for jogging or biking.

The trail connects from Parque do Tejo e do Trancão to Vila Franca de Xira's own river walk network. This is brand new and runs along the river shore, a protected area known to be a resting area for migratory birds (flamingos included), with plenty of landscape units, from riparian habitats and patches of woods (some still being planted). As such the boardwalk is precious, it helps in increasing awareness of the protected area, it allows a safe and convenient bird observation experience and a decent pilgrim experience, alternative to the actual busy and sidewalkless road. It unfortunately runs quite close to the speedway which hopefully the new trees might one day help screen off. The boardwalk trail has several sitting and shadow/observation areas. What it lacks is to be broken into smaller units, allowing entering and exiting at different points, and better connectivity with its surroundings. As of now, there are only a couple emergency exits and the length of the whole is quite a long. Cycling is allowed, which is quite a different experience. I am intrigued with going there during the bird migration period though.

Great pedestrian walkway, connecting Vila Franca de Xira to the Parque das Nações district. Plans to eventually connect all the way to Belem.
