"The Miradouro da Laje Longa is one of the main points of interest of Porreiras village, situated on the slope of Serra da Boalhosa, 7 kilometers from Paredes de Coura. With a fantastic and panoramic view of the surrounding area, this viewpoint is a great place to admire the mountain landscape and the old buildings of the village, which date back to the time when it was known as São Miguel de Rabel. It is thought that the origin of the name Porreiras is associated with the payment of taxes "by eiras", that is, by delivering the ears of corn harvested by farmers. Corn is unfortunately undervalued nowadays, but it actually has a very important role in the local economy, as evidenced by the fact that Porreiras has a community eira and a set of water mills."
