"Forte de Nossa Senhora do Rosário (Chaves), better known as Forte São Francisco de Chaves or simply Forte de São Francisco, is located in the city of Chaves, in the Parish of Santa Maria Maior (Chaves), in the municipality of Chaves, Vila Real District, in Portugal. Along with Forte de São Neutel, this fortress, in a dominant position on the hill of Pedisqueira, next to the Tâmega river and the old Roman bridge, was intended to defend the city, on the border of Galiza, at the time of the War of Restoration. Forte de São Francisco is classified as a National Monument since 1938. "
