Located in the Alvão Natural Park, the Cascata de Fisgas de Ermelo (Mondim de Basto) is considered one of the most impressive waterfalls in Portugal. The waterfall is not restricted to a single vertical water drop, consisting of a series of falls and pools in a 1.5 km course with a 250-meter drop. At the foot of the fall, a natural pool is formed. The site can be observed from the Fisgas de Ermelo viewpoint or accessed through a trail, being part of the PR3 pedestrian route. Open 24 hours a day.

The trail is really nice to do. Very easy access , you can park your car at the beginning. Path easy to follow. I definitely recommended. You will pass on a waterfall , if you get a bit out of the trail it’s reachable. 20 min down . Worth it!

Poor signage, long walk down. Told off by rangers for parking in official car park next to their van. However great views and spectacular waterfall but some stamina required

Wonderful place to jump into fresh and clean water in one of the plenty, small ponds on this natural water cascade. The route is well marked, total circuit makes around 12km, the route from Ermelo to Fisgas is 4.5km steep uphill (around 450m up), it's in the open, without shade, so be mindful of the time of the day, sun can be pretty tough to bear. Otherwise there is a parking 20min of walk from the waterfall.

A beautiful place to do a walk/hike, and experience nature in it's untouched form
