In the heart of Évora, a captivating new artwork has emerged, transforming a familiar space into a vibrant focal point. Since last Friday, February 6th, the Praça do Giraldo has welcomed ‘Baloiço Évora 27’, an installation designed to be enjoyed by both residents and visitors alike. This unique swing, bearing the signature Évora_27 graphic, marks a symbolic beginning to the countdown towards Évora’s designation as European Capital of Culture 2027 – a momentous occasion eagerly anticipated throughout the region.

Created by the Associação Évora_27, the initiative aims to offer a simple and accessible experience for everyone. The choice of a swing was considered “irresistible” by the organizers, fostering a direct connection with the public and creating a natural gathering space. It’s envisioned as a place where people can relax, swing gently, and capture memorable moments – perfect for sharing on social media.

As part of a broader series of activities celebrating the approaching 2027 event, Associação Évora 27 is keen to demonstrate that culture should be embraced daily. We encourage you to take a stroll through Évora’s historic center, pause at the Praça do Giraldo, and experience ‘Baloiço Évora 27’ for yourself. It’s a fantastic opportunity to create a lasting image of this beautiful city and a delightful way to mark the start of the countdown to a truly exceptional year.
