Nestled in the heart of Cête, a picturesque freguesia within the municipality of Paredes, lies the Baloiço Covão do Cête – a truly unique spot. Originally conceived during the Trail do Covão event in 2022, this area has blossomed into a beloved destination, attracting visitors from far and wide.
What began as a simple idea – a heart-shaped wooden bench and a triangular swing, both offering breathtaking views of the magnificent Cascata do Covão – has evolved into iconic symbols representing the unity and effort of the local community. Just a few weeks before the fourth Trail do Covão, these structures were inaugurated, quickly establishing themselves as a popular attraction. In fact, during the first weekend, over 300 visitors explored the area, drawn by the stunning natural beauty and the charm of this unexpected spot.
Reaching the Baloiço is easily accessible from the Mosteiro de São Pedro do Cête, a significant stop along the Rota do Românico. A short walk of approximately 600 meters along a well-maintained trail will lead you to the cascade and the enchanting swing and bench. For those seeking a longer adventure, the Trilho do Covão de Cête, a circular route measuring 3.2 kilometers, offers a delightful journey through forests and rural paths, culminating in the spectacular views of the Cascata. It’s a perfect way to experience the natural beauty of the region.
Currently, signage is being planned to further enhance the visitor experience. While parking can be limited near the monastery, it’s possible to find a suitable spot along the roadside. We encourage you to explore this hidden gem and immerse yourself in the serene atmosphere of Covão do Cête.
