Santa Cruz Church is located in the historical center of Braga, near the Cathedral and the Baroque Church of São Marcos. Built between the 17th and 18th centuries, over a hundred years, it is a single-plane church with Mannerist and Baroque architectural elements. The carved stone façade is Mannerist and framed by two bell towers, giving the ensemble majesty and elegance. According to legend, there are three roosters carved into the door, although only two can be seen. The interior stands out for the colorful Baroque carving and sculptures. The half dome worked in cut stone, as well as the organ and the two pulpits decorated in gold carving, are some of the admirable works of art. The main altarpiece with the crucified Christ is another highlight. Finally, the arrangement of various upper balconies for the interior of the church is also noteworthy. The entrance to visit this magnificent church is free and open during worship hours. Take the opportunity and come to visit Santa Cruz Church, at Largo Carlos Amarante 11, 4700-308 Braga. You will discover beautiful hidden treasures in every corner of this church, which will pleasantly surprise you.
