Chocolate Hills
Nestled in the Bohol province of the Philippines, the Chocolate Hills are a truly remarkable sight. Covering an area of over 50 square kilometers, these hills – numbering between 1,260 and 1,776 – stand as a testament to the power of nature. Shaped like cones, they rise to heights ranging from 30 to 120 meters, and their appearance is utterly captivating, particularly during the dry season.
The name ‘Chocolate Hills’ comes from the striking resemblance they have to rows of chocolate kisses when the grass covering them turns a rich brown hue. Geologists believe their formation is the result of the weathering of marine limestone over millions of years. More than just a geological curiosity, they hold a significant place in Filipino culture, appearing in local myths and folklore, adding to their enchanting aura.
Recent visitor feedback offers a varied perspective. While some highlight the fantastic views and the worthwhile climb, others have reported issues with the accuracy of the address.
