Chapel of Our Lady of Monserrate (Lisboa)

Address
Praça das Amoreiras, 1250-096 Lisboa

The Chapel of Our Lady of Monserrate, located in Praça das Amoreiras, in the municipality of Lisbon, was built in 1768 to honor Our Lady of Monserrate, the patron saint of French artisans. This octagonal chapel has a simple facade with a triangular pediment, a plain frame door, a window and an oculus.

Inside stands out the splendor and beauty of its altars painted with wood to imitate marble, a dome covered with tempera painting and the blue and white tiles panels from the old Rato Factory. These last details give this building a rocaille influence.

The Chapel of Our Lady of Monserrate occupies a privileged location in the city center, with a breathtaking view of the city, and is easily accessible by car.

Those who visit the chapel will make an unforgettable journey, because in addition to all the magic conferred by its interior, one can also find peace, tranquility and well-being in the lush garden and excellent esplanade that surround it. Don’t miss the opportunity to discover one of the most impressive tourist attractions that Lisbon has to offer.
