Chapel of Our Lady of the Rescue
The Chapel of Our Lady of the Rescue is a small cozy church tucked between the houses of the old city and easily passes unnoticed. Located on Rua da Bandeira in Viana do Castelo, the Chapel was built in 1696. There is a welcoming and cozy atmosphere when entering, provided by the images of San Crispim, Santo Rita and Our Lady of the Rescue being venerated inside it. This is a much sought-after visit by tourists and important for those of Catholic faith. The Chapel presents itself beautiful, with a small and cozy architectural style. It is a beautiful prayer space, and a place of faith, but also of peace. It is really a special place, simple and peaceful. A very pleasant atmosphere, perhaps because it is surrounded by green spaces. This small chapel is definitely a place worth visiting: peaceful, beautiful and pleasant. Inside it is very well decorated, with various paintings and carvings, in addition to the altar with golden carving. Being an old building, we can observe an incredible collection of sacred arts from the altar to the sacristy. Around this historical location there is also the possibility to visit the Lima River and the Costume Museum of Viana do Castelo.
