Once known as Terra de Penna Alba, this description dates back to the dawn of time, well before the establishment of our nationality. Derived from Latin, Penna Alba means “white rock”, where the Castle of Penalva is believed to have existed. Reportedly captured from the Moors by the King of León, D. Fernando I “The Great”, around 1057 during the Christian reconquest.
