So happy we stopped here on our way to Lisbon for lunch! The bifanas are so good and really fairly priced, and the sopas were excellent too. I cannot wait to go back to Vendas Novas for more!

We were told A Chaminé is one of the OG bifana spots in Portugal, so we stopped here for lunch on our way from Évora to the Douro Valley. It is a humble little café frequented by locals and we were lucky to find a seat inside. We were served by the owner, and he was the kindest man who accommodated our very limited Portuguese. We ordered two bifanas com queijo e ovo and they were absolutely delightful. The bread was the best we have had in Portugal and you can immediately tell it is baked in house. We also tried caldo verde for the first time and it was incredibly comforting on a cold day. The empada de salsicha was delicious and the owner surprised us with an empada de frango to taste. The smoky flavor of the frango stood out and it was clear it was also made fresh that morning. We were eyeing the cakes and pastries being placed into the display case but we simply had no more room. Everything looked amazing. Make sure to bring cash because it is cash only.

The typical Portuguese Tasco. Specialized in bifanas. These bifanas are so delicious that one won't be enough. Also the fries are homemade which bring it home nicely.

Best bifanas in Vendas Novas, a must stop if you are through the region, the only problem is being able to eat only one. Their empadas are also great with a lot of options to choose from. Great stop in vendas novas.
