Aurora Borealis Observatory

Address
Torsmoveien 14, 9303 Silsand, Norway

Located in a region ideally positioned for witnessing one of nature’s most spectacular displays, the Aurora Borealis Observatory offers a unique vantage point for experiencing the Northern Lights. This viewpoint, nestled amongst the rolling hills and dark skies of [Insert Region Name Here – e.g., the Serra da Estrela], provides an exceptional opportunity to observe this mesmerizing phenomenon. The aurora, or *aurora boreal*, is a result of charged particles from the sun interacting with our planet’s atmosphere, creating vibrant ribbons of light dancing across the night sky.

While the aurora itself is a truly remarkable sight, the Observatory offers more than just a view. Guests can enjoy insightful commentary from knowledgeable staff who explain the science behind this incredible display, detailing the colours – primarily green, but occasionally tinted with pink, yellow, blue, or violet – depending on which atmospheric gases are involved. The best time to witness the aurora is during the winter months, when nights are long and dark, maximizing your chances of a breathtaking sighting. It’s important to note that the aurora’s appearance is unpredictable and ever-changing, offering each viewing a completely unique experience.

Recent visitor feedback suggests the experience is generally positive, with many praising the knowledgeable guides and the stunning location. However, some recent reviews have highlighted occasional issues with the observatory’s infrastructure, so we encourage you to contact us directly to discuss any concerns before your visit. Transportation to the observatory is readily available via *autocarro* (bus) from [Nearest Town/City] or private transfer. Please bring warm clothing and a camera with a tripod to fully capture this unforgettable spectacle.

Been waiting to be able to go to Aurora Borealis Observatory for some time and it was everything we had hoped for and more. Yes the Northern Lights were the main attraction but Jan was a great host and we had a great cabin with a picture perfect view for morning coffee. The Cabin was cozy and well equipped we used the kitchen facilities as well as eating out. You are a bit out of the way but you need to be to be away from the light pollution. We flew into Tromso and drove to Senja rather than talking the boat and offer of the pick up service. This I feel was a good choice as we enjoyed the breath taking views on the journey (approx 3 hours with a stop) but also we did drive out to Finnsnes the nearest town (about 15 - 20 min drive) daily where there are some nice coffee shops, shops and restaurants/bars. We will return for sure,

Unfortunately, my experience with this property was extremely disappointing. The structure is highly unreliable and the staff clearly lacks the ability to manage it properly. At the very beginning of the winter season, they canceled all of my reservations without offering any adequate explanation or real support, causing me serious inconvenience and a lot of unnecessary problems.

They present themselves as a “resort,” but in reality the service and organization are far below what that label implies. There is absolutely no added value compared to other accommodations, despite the image they try to promote.

Poor management, lack of professionalism, and no attention to guests’ needs. I would not recommend this place, especially if you are looking for reliability and well-organized service.

I booked a trip for me and my wife in early 2025 and had to cancel in April of the same year.
The trip was scheduled for January 2026.
I have been trying to get a refund for my booking for months to no avail. At time of writing it is just days away from 2026 and the refund still has not been issued despite written confirmation.
Through the months there were countless emails and phone calls, with very little engagement from the establishment. I have never experienced such an amateur conduct from a hotel.

My friends and I had a great experience! Mary was very easy to communicate with via email regarding logistics, and once we arrived, our driver/aurora tour guide Johannes was so kind, generous, and accommodating that by the end of the trip we considered him a friend! The aurora night tour was the experience of a lifetime and the day tour of Senja was also incredible, even on a rainy day. We went for 3 nights and it felt like enough. The ABO is very easy to get to from Tromso via ferry and Tromso is also highly recommended!
