Archers National Park offers a truly remarkable glimpse into the power of geological time and the beauty of erosion. Situated in a region of intense desert conditions – characterized by significant temperature fluctuations and a mere 8 inches of rainfall annually – this park is a living testament to the slow, patient work of nature. Here, you’ll discover over 2,000 sandstone arches, sculpted over millions of years by wind, water, and the inherent weaknesses within the rock itself.
The sandstone formations, dating back approximately 150 million years, rest upon an ancient salt core, creating a network of cracks and fissures that have dramatically shaped the landscape. These arches, some reaching impressive heights of up to 112 feet and widths exceeding 93 feet, are constantly evolving; geologists describe this place as the “life cycle of stone” due to the precarious nature of each arch – many are subject to collapse, as evidenced by documented events like the 2008 collapse. It’s a poignant reminder that even the most seemingly permanent structures are vulnerable to the relentless forces of the natural world.
Visitors will find the trails relatively accessible, suitable for all ages, and a perfect place to spend a full day exploring. Remember to bring plenty of water, sunscreen, and light snacks, as there are limited facilities within the park. Recent reviews highlight the welcoming atmosphere and the ease of encountering these incredible formations – many visitors report being able to see stunning arches without undertaking lengthy hikes. Archers National Park is more than just a collection of rock; it’s an immersive experience that connects you to the deep history of our planet.

Visited Arches National Park and it was an amazing place to explore. The rock formations are really unique and the views are beautiful, especially around sunset. There are several easy trails where you can walk and see the arches up close. It can get hot during the day, so bringing water is a good idea. Overall, it’s a great spot for nature lovers and definitely worth seeing at least once.
Wow! The diversity of the trails has something for everyone at all ability levels. The hikes right off the parking lots are perfect for people with limited mobility. If there is ice and snow- wear spikes and bring hiking poles. If you have limited time, hike Delicate Arch at sunset or sunrise because the light changes highlight the beauty of the red sandstone. Bring a flashlight/head lamp for the night hikes- it gets dark, but it is an amazing experience hiking with the stars! The Devils Garden hike with the primitive loop is unique because it highlighs the incredible scale of the rock formations and you become submerged within the structures. Bring a snack, lots of water, start early, and be ready to climb. I would not recommend doing the hike with ice or snow.

Beautiful place!!!
This place is amazing. It was mostly amazing to see a new staff member being trained by an experienced team member while we were there. They were helping visitors with things like an Active Military Annual Pass and a Gold Star Lifetime Pass, and the new employee did an amazing job learning on the spot. It’s awesome to see our parks staffed with young, motivated people who care about helping visitors. We really appreciate the hard work from the staff who help keep these parks running smoothly. 🌄👏
Meraviglioso
Beautiful experience! The trails are clean, easy to hike for all ages. You can spend a whole day here. Make sure to pack a water bottle, sunscreen, and light snacks. Would love to revisit again sometimes in the future.
Must do
you don’t have to hike very far to see the arches.
I just loved it! What an experience of a life time. If you haven't been there you need to go and feel it for yourself.
