Angel Falls

Address
8011, Bolívar, Venezuela

Nestled deep within the Kima National Park in Venezuela, Angel Falls stands as a truly awe-inspiring spectacle, a testament to the raw power and beauty of nature. This isn’t just a waterfall; it’s the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall, plummeting an astonishing 979 meters (almost 3,212 feet) from the summit of Auyan-Túno mountain. The water’s descent creates a mesmerizing mist, atomizing before reaching the ground, transforming the experience into something ethereal.

The Falls gained their name from Jimmy Angel, a pioneering American aviator who was the first to fly over this incredible landmark in 1933. However, the indigenous Pemon people have long known it as *kupai meru*, meaning “waterfall of the deepest place,” a fitting description for this hidden gem. Reaching Angel Falls is an adventure in itself, requiring river trips and invigorating hikes through the dense, lush Venezuelan rainforest. The surrounding Guiana Highlands are home to a unique and diverse ecosystem, boasting a wealth of flora and fauna, including species found nowhere else on Earth.

Recent reviews consistently highlight the sheer scale and grandeur of Angel Falls, with visitors praising its dramatic beauty and the immersive experience of exploring the surrounding jungle. If you’re seeking a journey into the heart of untouched wilderness and a chance to witness one of the planet’s most remarkable natural wonders, Angel Falls offers an unforgettable adventure. Remember to plan your trip carefully, utilising local guides for a safe and rewarding exploration of this extraordinary location.

The recent helicopter flight, which cost 500 dollars per person, provided a truly remarkable scenic view of the waterfall. We were fortunate enough to see not only Salto Angel Falls but also numerous other waterfalls, which were referred to as "ghost waterfalls" as they only appear during rainfall. The following day, I embarked on a six-hour boat trip from Ara Meru lodge to a camp, where we spent the night in hammocks. It was an unforgettable experience, and I would advise bringing mosquito repellent. From the camp, it's a three-hour round trip hike to Angel Falls. As a helicopter pilot, I had the incredible opportunity to fly over Canaima National Park, departing from Salto Angel, and as they prepared a surprise with dual control for me. It's better than any dream I've ever had in my life.

Seeing Angel Falls was a truly incredible experience. Located deep in the Venezuelan jungle, it's the world's tallest waterfall. The journey to get there was an adventure itself, involving a plane ride and a boat trip through lush, untouched nature. The waterfall plunges almost a kilometer down from a tabletop mountain, and seeing it in person was awe-inspiring. The sound of the water hitting the rocks far below and the sight of the endless cascade was mesmerizing. Hiking to the base of the falls and feeling the mist was unforgettable. Angel Falls is a remote, magical destination that offers an adventure of a lifetime.

Easy to find but the road was washed out Easy hike and well marked Beautiful falls
