Angel Falls, known locally as Kerepakupai Merú, is one of the most impressive natural wonders on the planet and a dream destination for lovers of nature and adventure. Located in the heart of Venezuela, this waterfall holds the title of the highest uninterrupted waterfall in the world, with an impressive 979 meters in height, plunging dramatically from the top of Auyán-tepui, one of the region's emblematic flat-topped mountains.

Seeing Angel Falls in person is an experience that is difficult to describe. The water falls from such a height that part of it turns into mist before even touching the ground, creating an almost surreal landscape. Surrounded by dense jungle, winding rivers, and practically untouched scenery, this attraction offers a rare feeling of pure contact with nature.

Visiting Angel Falls is, in itself, an adventure. Getting there usually involves travelling on small planes to Canaima, followed by boat trips along the region's rivers and walks on tropical trails. The journey is part of the experience, revealing lush landscapes, unique biodiversity, and a constant sense of discovery.

In addition to its natural grandeur, the site has strong cultural and historical value. Although the international name honors the American aviator Jimmy Angel, who popularized the waterfall in the 20th century, the Pemón people have known this place for generations, giving it a name deeply connected to their identity and tradition.

This is a destination suited to adventurous travelers, nature photographers, and anyone seeking unusual experiences. Due to its remote location and access conditions, advance planning and support from experienced local operators or guides are recommended.

About the region

Angel Falls is located in the area of Parroquia Gran Sabana, in the state of Bolívar, in southeastern Venezuela. This region includes some of the most extraordinary natural landscapes in South America, marked by the famous tepuis, ancient geological formations that have inspired countless stories and expeditions.

The main reference point for those visiting the region is Canaima, a small settlement within Canaima National Park, classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Canaima serves as the main gateway for exploring Angel Falls and other natural wonders in the area, offering accommodations, organized excursions, and close contact with local indigenous culture.

The recent helicopter flight, which cost 500 dollars per person, provided a truly remarkable scenic view of the waterfall. We were fortunate enough to see not only Salto Angel Falls but also numerous other waterfalls, which were referred to as "ghost waterfalls" as they only appear during rainfall. The following day, I embarked on a six-hour boat trip from Ara Meru lodge to a camp, where we spent the night in hammocks. It was an unforgettable experience, and I would advise bringing mosquito repellent. From the camp, it's a three-hour round trip hike to Angel Falls. As a helicopter pilot, I had the incredible opportunity to fly over Canaima National Park, departing from Salto Angel, and as they prepared a surprise with dual control for me. It's better than any dream I've ever had in my life.

Seeing Angel Falls was a truly incredible experience. Located deep in the Venezuelan jungle, it's the world's tallest waterfall. The journey to get there was an adventure itself, involving a plane ride and a boat trip through lush, untouched nature. The waterfall plunges almost a kilometer down from a tabletop mountain, and seeing it in person was awe-inspiring. The sound of the water hitting the rocks far below and the sight of the endless cascade was mesmerizing. Hiking to the base of the falls and feeling the mist was unforgettable. Angel Falls is a remote, magical destination that offers an adventure of a lifetime.

Easy to find but the road was washed out Easy hike and well marked Beautiful falls
