Located in the picturesque parish of Louriceira, in the municipality of Alcanena, the Fluvial Beach of Olhos de Água is a true natural oasis that invites you to a day of relaxation and fun. Strategically located on the east side of the Alviela River, the beach offers not only stunning scenery, but also clear water and refreshing shade.
The History and Beauty of the Place
Over the years, this river beach has gained prominence for its surrounding nature and, in the past, for providing essential water for much of the city of Lisbon. The famous springs of the Alviela River, known as Olhos de Água, are the birthplace of this natural beauty.

At Olhos de Água River Beach, the calm and crystal clear waters invite you to relaxing baths and water exploration, even allowing you to share the space with local fish. In addition, the site offers a playground for younger guests and areas with tables for picnics. If you prefer, there is a restaurant available to satisfy your appetite.
Enhanced Amenities and Entertainment
After the revitalization in May 2016, the beach became an even more pleasant place for leisure and rest. With a children's playground, picnic areas equipped with tables and grills, toilet facilities and even a riverside restaurant, there is no shortage of amenities to enjoy the day. In addition, a playground on the sand and a large green space with shade offer alternatives for entertainment and rest.
Exploring Nature and History
During your visit, there are a variety of activities at your disposal. The Centro de Ciência Viva do Alviela - Carsoscope explores the origins of Olhos de Água and the paths that the Alviela River took to reach the beach. For nature enthusiasts, the caves formed by the passage of water offer a unique spectacle. Well-marked walking trails guide you through stunning scenery, with the river flowing between rocks and trees.
Exploring the Surroundings
A fitness circuit with a running track and exercise area complements the range of activities. The most popular points of interest include the Poço Escuro, the Fluvio-Karsic Cannon of Ribeira dos Amiais, the Sink of Ribeira dos Amiais, the Resurgence of Ribeira dos Amiais and the Janela Cársica. Next to the Centro de Ciência Viva, you will also find the Alcanena MTB Center, where five mountain bike routes start.
An Aquatic Refuge in the District of Santarém
Located in the district of Santarém, Olhos de Água River Beach is close to the parishes of Louriceira, Malhou and Amiais de Baixo, forming an integral part of the first of them. This is a place to experience nature at its best and relax without worry, enjoying every moment of this unique water retreat.

Beware water is VERY COLD. Nice place to spend time with kids if you are nearby. Plenty of space even if crowded. Bifanas are good.
Absolutely worth a visit. Peaceful, clean and beautiful. With some pop up food stores and fresh cold drinks . Lovely
It's a kid-friendly place for families to enjoy it with a playground, toilets, a clean path for the buggies, some nice popup shops. The parking is big. The river is small but lovely.
Excellent place to spend a day. The water is clear, pure and cold as It comes straight from the spring. This beach is suitable for snorkeling, there are several fishes. It has plenty of space and shade, as is serounded by trees. The car park is quite big, toilets are available and there are a few stalls serving mainly fast food. Highly recommended
Absolutely gorgeous Clear water from the nearby spring. Refreshingly cold even in July. This is part of a park that has a restaurant (serves great pancakes), food stands, a children's science center, and lots of walking paths. It's really beautiful. We spent a lovely day with many families who were also out for the day. Very wholesome and everyone had a good time. We really enjoyed the shade under magnificent plane trees. From the parking lot it's about a 3-minute walk down well maintained boardwalks.
