The Alamal Walkways, located on the banks of the Tagus River, are one of the most enchanting natural corners of inland Portugal. This pedestrian route offers a peaceful and scenic experience, ideal for those looking for contact with nature, relaxing walks, and breathtaking landscapes.
Along the route, visitors are accompanied by privileged views over the Tagus and the imposing Belver Castle, which rises on the opposite bank and gives the scenery an almost cinematic charm. The route is accessible and low in difficulty, making it an excellent option for families, couples, or simply for those who want to disconnect from the fast pace of everyday life.
Nearby is the Alamal River Beach, a very popular spot during the warmer months, with good facilities for leisure time, swimming, and picnics. The combination of walkway, river, and bathing area makes this place a particularly appealing destination for a full-day outing.
The surrounding landscape is marked by the serenity typical of the inland Alentejo and Ribatejo regions, where riverside vegetation, gentle slopes, and the constant shimmer of the Tagus waters come together. It is also an excellent place for landscape photography, nature watching, and walks at sunrise or sunset.

Stunning area in the heart of nature. Excellent trekking paths (around 25 kms all around), Tagus river and clean beaches, Belver Castle views, nearby towns and villages you just see so highly recommended area to enjoy and understand the beauty of Portugal and local lifestyle.
One of the better river beaches on the river Tejo. Stunning views of the river and Belver castle. There's a new walkway that goes all the way back to the bridge at Belver roughly 3.5km. Located on the beach are toilets for bathers in the summer months. A Cafe and restaurant are also located by the beach with a wide variety of food and snacks. A definite must if your looking for a good sunbathing/swimming spot or if you just want to walk along the mountain and enjoy the views.
Beautiful secluded beach with a nice view to the Belver castle. Despite being a river beach, it has sand. The calm river is perfect for kids and you can rent kayaks and do other water sports. You can also grab a bite at the restaurant. Can get crowded and the neaby parking might get full.
Fantastic walkway along Tejo river with spectacular views of Belver Castle. River beach on downriver end. Can be slippery in cold wet conditiobs so be cautious then.
Amazing trail. Unfortunately closed due to construction
