Vila Nova de Gaia, meist einfach Gaia genannt, ist eine Stadt im Norden Portugals am südlichen Ufer des Douro, direkt gegenüber von Porto.

Gaia ist vor allem für seine historischen Portweinkeller bekannt, in denen Portwein seit Jahrhunderten gelagert und gereift wird. Die Stadt ist durch die ikonische Dom-Luís-I-Brücke mit Porto verbunden, von der sich weite Ausblicke auf den Douro und die Uferbereiche bieten.

Abseits des Flussufers erstreckt sich Gaia entlang einer langen Atlantikküste mit Stränden wie Madalena, Miramar und Granja. Weitere Höhepunkte sind das Kloster Serra do Pilar und die malerische Kapelle Senhor da Pedra direkt am Meer.

Mit seiner Verbindung aus Weinkultur, Geschichte, Stränden und eindrucksvollen Landschaften gehört Vila Nova de Gaia zu den interessantesten Reisezielen im Norden Portugals.
